Ah, I miss you my lovely corporate card. Such fond memories in the years 2002 - 2007, when the economy was booming. So pretty, so green, so limitless were our days and nights together. We had so many fun times, at the benefits, luxury hotels and top restaurants across the country. I never abused you like so many other people, it just wasn't in my nature. It was because you treated me so well. Entertaining industry people, planning for the future, traveling for work and extending over the weekend and all the while, building up my Amex points and Continental miles.
Now I rely on the kindness of friends and their corporate cards. Do they feel bad? Maybe a little. Now more than ever their statements are being scrutinized and itemized because companies are trying to cut back and account for every dollar. But not really, because there were so many times I treated them to dinner, drinks and car services. What goes around, comes around. One day I will have my lovely green corporate card back, everyone will have a job and people will start spending again. One day, in Aspen. Where the beer flows like wine.....
